RINGS OF GOLD AWARD INDIVIDUAL RECIPIENT: JACKIE WASHINGTON
Following a successful career on the track, including competing in the Olympic Games Los Angeles 1984, sprinter Jackie Washington continues to impact the Olympic and Paralympic movements through her service as president of the Houston U.S. Olympians & Paralympians Association Chapter. In this role, Jackie helps facilitate
a seamless transition for Olympians and Paralympians as they navigate the journey from sports to the professional world.
Her impact expands beyond elite athletes, as she focuses much of her work with youth groups and various organizations to instill values and ideals of the Olympic and Paralympic movements. Her efforts have led to the establishment of enduring partnerships with sports authorities, sporting entities, businesses, corporations, and organizations, all dedicated to supporting fellow Olympians and Paralympians, and increasing the chapter’s ability to reach and engage more youth across Houston.
She has played an integral role in educational scholarships, mental health support, and career placement for both established Olympians and Paralympians, as well as aspiring athletes.
